Frieda Granot
Frieda Granot graduated from the Technion with a BSc in Mathematics, and an MSc in Computer Sciences. She also earned a PhD in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin. She serves on the Technion Canada Board and is actively engaged in outreach to Western Canadian supporters. Frieda met her husband of 52 years at the Technion and they have 13 Technion degrees in their family!
Frieda is a Professor at the University of British Columbia, spending more than a decade in the Sauder School of Business as the only female tenure-track member in a school of over 100 faculty members. Granot served as UBC’s first female Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and interdisciplinary research, where she spearheaded a variety of think tanks, managing their development from a mere idea to successful, full-fledged entities. For this work, in 2007, she was appointed as a Member of the Order of Canada (“an exemplary leader, role model and catalyst for change in post-secondary education and interdisciplinary research in Canada).
