Alex Talmor – A Family Affair

My family has deep connections to the Technion, and it was a natural choice for me to attend the university.  I spent six years studying at the Technion, attaining both a BSc (’95) in Industrial Engineering and a Master of Engineering (01).  My father and brother are also graduates; my father studied Electrical Engineering and my brother Mechanical Engineering – both are very successful in their fields.

The Technion is a widely respected and distinguished institution, and I am very proud to be a graduate. The Technion’s achievements and contributions across science and research have shaped Israel as a Startup Nation and, on an individual level, the Technion challenged me to work hard and continually elevate my game.

Throughout my career, I have focused on the connection of technology and business, starting with the Israeli Air Force, continuing in the private sector at IBM, and then moving to Canada where I developed my skills in the IT sector. Today, I lead a national IT and cyber solution provider with over 100 employees.  My Technion education provided the foundation for my professional journey, teaching me how to analyze complex problems, and to work with my team to deliver optimal results.

Today, I am married to Haya Talmor, and a father of three.  In the years since my graduation, I have remained connected to the Technion in a variety of ways. I have guided tours of students coming to the Technion and supported the university as an alumnus. I am also involved with Technion Canada as a donor and a member of the Toronto Council. If I can give back to the university that helped shape me and my path in life, what can be better than that?

As the Technion approaches its Centennial year, my wish is that the Technion continues to lead in scientific innovation and research, which will support Israel’s growth, and contribute to the benefit of the world.
